Whats On & Availability

Daily Timetable

Before coming to Nimble Arts children are assigned one of 8 age groups (named after animals) based on their school and age, or on requests made at the time of booking when you checkout on Magci Booking or on using the Group Request Form sent out in booking confirmation emails. The groups will be shared in advance with parents so you can make sure children are with friends if you have requested this. Children are also assigned a key worker (we operate with 1 key worker to 8-10 children for a really personalised experience) who will look after them during the day supported by our Management Team.  Drop off is 8:00 – 9:30 and standard day pick up 3:30 – 5:00 with additional 5:00 – 6:30pm available by booking our Movie Club. From £54 a day 8:00am – 5:00pm + £6.50 extension till 6:30pm – sibling discount available. Pay by card, Childcare Voucher, Tax-Free Childcare or spread the cost with instalments.

We have 4 pre-school 4 year olds – Year 2 groups  (Caterpillars, Hedgehogs, Chipmunks, Puffins) of around 30 children split into key groups of 10 with a designated group leader.  Their days and activities are planned according to their age and their timetable for the day runs as follows:

We have 3-4 older groups starting from Year 2/3 depending on numbers that day up to Year 6 – Dolphins, Meerkats, Zebras and Eagles with around 25-30 children and 2-3 leaders each depending on numbers that day. Children in our Eagles groups can volunteer to be part of our Nimble Super Squad. We know older children love to take responsibility at the club and whenever they don their Super Squad vest then can be part of the team directing parents in the mornings, as well as be part of demonstrating activities to younger children and running games sessions at break times. This is entirely optional but something our older children really enjoy! All they have to do is let us know when they arrive if they’d like to be part of the Super Squad.  Our older groups spend more time with our visiting leaders with more advanced workshops due to their age. Their day looks like this:

You can also text or WhatsApp the Goodrich Manager on 07714 745 040 between 7.00am – 6.30pm during club time only.

We take safeguarding extremely seriously at Nimble Arts and sign every child in electronically onto our register system. Please be patient if there is a queue at either sign in our out, it is of paramount importance that every child is safely signed in and out.

On arrival children will be signed in at the front gate (Dunstan’s Road Entrance) and staff will take them to their Group Room – parents and carers will be asked to drop-off at the gate and not enter the building unless this is essential. Our First Aider will be available in reception to sign in medication and discuss any medical needs as will the Centre Manager.

You must add anyone who is approved to collect your child to your Magic Booking account. If they are not on the account at pick up we will not be able to send your child with them and will need to call the child’s emergency contacts to confirm.  To add a collector to your account please login and click on CHILDREN and then CONTACTS – scroll down to find +Add A Collector. Once they are added, they have permission to drop off and collect your child any time until your remove them so you don’t need to tell us a specific person is picking up as long as they appear on the list.

Every day is a completely different adventure at Nimble Arts but the things you will need on each day are:

  • A packed lunch and snacks PLEASE NOTE we have a nut-free policy, and as we have a number of children with allergies, this is particularly important. We reserve the right to remove any packed lunch item containing nuts which will be returned to parents at pick up – PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ALL PACKAGING VERY CAREFULLY We also ask that children don’t share their lunches, because of the number of children who do have allergies). There will be two extra breaks during the day so please includes snacks and a bottle of water that can be refilled during the day

  • Any medication that needs to be administered or that you would like us to have available for your child during the day (asthma pumps, Epi-pens, antihistamines etc) – these will need to be signed in and out and please make sure it is labelled with your child’s name. To save time please complete this online form before the club so we will have all the information we need and permission to administer form in advance

  • Waterproof coat and sensible shoes for outdoor play

  • Clothes they can move easily in, and that you don’t mind getting a bit messy – whilst we have overalls available for craft projects, a bit of rogue paint or glue can sometimes escape!

  • An extra bag labelled to take home things that your child has made

  • Children are welcome to bring a book as we all sometimes like a little quiet time in the day! Please make sure this is labelled
  • For any children with the potential to have a toilet accident (and this is not a problem at all – we know children are all at different stages of development) please include a change of underwear and bottoms and some wet / baby wipes

Children are grouped in advance based on age and school and on group preferences logged during  your booking (there is a question to answer at checkout) or using the group request form sent out in the booking confirmation email once you have booked. The reason we group children is because all our workshops and activity sessions are specifically designed for age groups. It also means we can assign the correct staff with the right qualifications/experience to each age group. Groups are organised before each club and sent out to parents on a password protected page about a week before the club (using child’s first name, surname initial and school for data protection purposes). We can have some flexibility with siblings and friends who may want to be in groups together as our main objective is that children have a great and happy day – and if your child doesn’t know anyone you don’t need to worry – the whole first part of our morning is spent settling in and getting to know each other.

Once the groups are sent out you can just get in touch with us to make any changes – sometimes we have conflicting results but we’re really happy to make changes if needed.

Our groups are organised as follows (approximately) depending on the bookings we have each day:

Caterpillars: pre-school 4-5s

Hedgehogs: pre-school 4-5’s/Reception

Chipmunks: Reception/Year 1

Puffins: Reception/Year 1/Year 2

Dolphins: (only on some days) Year 1/2

Meerkats: Year 2/3

Zebras: Year 3/4/5

Eagles: Year 4/5/6

The law as it applies to Out of School and Holiday childcare as laid out in the EYFS Framework from states:

Before/after school care and holiday provision
3.40. Where the provision is solely before/after school care or holiday provision for children who normally attend Reception class (or older) during the school day, there must be sufficient staff as for a class of 30 children. It is for providers to determine how many staff are needed to ensure the safety and welfare of children, bearing in mind the type(s) of activity and the age and needs of the children. It is also for providers to determine what qualifications, if any, the manager and/or staff should have. Providers do not need to meet the learning and development requirements in Section 1. However, practitioners should discuss with parents and/or carers (and other practitioners/providers as appropriate, including school staff/teachers) the
support they intend to offer.

We take the safety, enjoyment and development of the children we look after very seriously and are members of the Out of School Alliance. We follow their recommendation of having a minimum ratio of 1:10 for children aged 4-8, and 1:15 for older children and are insured for this. For our pre-reception 4 year olds the law states there must be a ratio of 1:8 with a member of staff with each group qualified to level 2 in a recognised area of qualification and we adhere to this requirement. Our children are grouped into age groups of up to 18 children in a similar school year. Each group has 2 members of staff of suitable training/experience to look after the group. They are supported by our First Responder on duty from 8:00 – 6:30, our two Assistant Managers, our Admin Manager (in charge of home-club communication), our Setting Manager (always a qualified teacher or level 3 childcare professional), our Resources Team, our workshop leaders who run our sessions and any 1:1s. All staff have an enhanced DBS check and have been vetted during recruitment. We are insured with Morton Michel.

Due to the number of parents who understandably do not give their consent for pictures and video, it is our policy only to take pictures of children’s work which we post on our social media during the day. We do not take pictures and videos of the children or use any pictures and videos publicly with children’s faces shown. We do take pictures of activities, leaders and what children have made and share them with parents by text and email in our ‘Today and Nimble’ communications each day.

We are currently seeking support from the Southwark ADD team to provide 1:1 support for anyone who needs it if they are resident in Southwark and we can arrange this in time for the club. If you would like to discuss your child’s additional needs please drop us an email and we will do everything we can to support

We have a qualified first responder/medic from First Aid Cover on site for the full day. They record any first aid incidents which will be texted to you and you will receive a call from us in the case of any serious incidents. Our First Responder will undergo Covid-19 training. Once you have booked please refer to your booking email for the ‘Permission to administer medication‘ online form if your child requires prescription medication. Please note our First Responder can only administer prescription in-date medicines.

Nimble Arts is run by Founder CEO Catherine Burgis supported by a team of education and childcare specialists. Catherine is originally from Manchester. She studied music at Oxford University before completing Teach First programme.

We were thrilled to meet every standard and receive this very positive report. Thanks for all parents, children and staff who supported us on the day!

She taught music and music technology in inner London schools before joining the BBC as the Learning and Outreach Manager for the BBC Proms and BBC Symphony Orchestra where she co-produced the Horrible Histories Prom, presented family learning concerts at the Royal College of Music, The Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall and designed outreach programmes for schools. She then moved on to manage the British Council’s ‘World Voice’ where she worked with government education departments and UN agencies to create programmes that helped children in economically challenging circumstances meet educational and language goals through music and song. Catherine is also a writer and recording artist releasing music under the name of Test Card Girl. Catherine’s aim has always been to develop a social enterprise that could sustainably provide accessible creative opportunities to children and young people irrespective of social and economical circumstances. In 2018 she began working full time to develop Nimble Arts into such an organisation using some of the profits to provide free 1:1 staff for children with additional educational needs and funded places for looked after children. Despite the very challenging consequences of closure during the global pandemic, the company has started its recovery and journey back towards this mission and will be expanding to more centres in 2022. Her overall aim is to create a replicable model of social enterprise childcare where profits will be re-invested to provide more and more supported places for those who qualify, while maintaining a high quality unique experience for all attendees.

Our holiday club management team and staff are all qualified and experienced teachers, workshop leaders or teaching assistants with enhanced DBS checks.

Nimble Arts Ltd are registered at Goodrich Primary School on the Early Years and Childcare Register which means we can look legally look after 4-11 year olds between 8.00am – 6.30pm during holiday time. Our registration means that we abide by all the Ofsted requirements for UK childcare more details of which can be found HERE
